Admissions
The best way is to visit in person. Schedule a personal tour and spend a few hours with us — meet the staff, have a meal, and see daily life for yourself. There's no commitment required and no pressure. Our team will answer every question and help you understand whether our level of care matches your loved one's needs.
Our process is simple and family-centered: (1) Initial phone conversation to understand your situation, (2) In-person tour at your convenience, (3) Needs assessment with our care coordinator, (4) Review of care level and pricing, (5) Move-in coordination. We guide you through every step.
In many cases we can accommodate moves within a few days for urgent situations. For planned transitions we typically ask for 1–2 weeks to complete paperwork, a physician's assessment, and move-in coordination. Call us directly and we'll work around your timeline.
We require a recent physician's health assessment (within 30 days), a current medication list, and any relevant medical history. Our admissions coordinator will provide a complete checklist and help coordinate with your loved one's current care providers.
Costs & Billing
Rates vary by suite type and level of care needed. We\'d encourage you to contact us directly for a personalized quote — we\'ll walk you through what\'s included and help you understand all your options. There are no surprises.
Medicare generally does not cover assisted living or memory care room and board. Medicaid coverage varies by state and program. We recommend speaking with a senior care financial advisor and can refer you to local resources to help navigate these questions.
Yes — many long-term care insurance policies cover assisted living and memory care. We work with all major long-term care insurance providers and can help with verification and claims processing. Bring your policy information and we'll help determine your benefits.
We are always transparent about what is and isn't included before you move in. Additional charges may apply for personal items, specialized ancillary services, or transportation to outside appointments. Contact us and we'll walk you through everything clearly — no surprises.
Daily Life
Each day is shaped by the resident's own routine and preferences. Mornings include breakfast, morning activities or exercise, and personal care. Afternoons feature organized programs, outings, or quiet time. Evenings include dinner, social time, and winding down. Residents always choose how they spend their time.
We offer 50+ activities per month: fitness classes, arts and crafts, music programs, devotional services, cooking demonstrations, gardening, games, movie nights, and community outings. Our Life Enrichment team creates programs based on residents' interests — everyone is invited, nothing is mandatory.
Absolutely. We encourage residents to bring personal furniture, photos, artwork, and meaningful items to make their suite feel like home. Our staff will help arrange the space to match preferences. The goal is for the suite to feel familiar and personal from day one.
Yes — we welcome well-behaved pets. We know how much companions mean to our residents. There may be a small pet deposit and we ask that pets are up to date on vaccinations. Ask us about our current pet policy when you tour.
We serve three chef-prepared meals daily in our restaurant-style dining room. Menus rotate weekly and are designed by a licensed dietitian. We accommodate special diets, allergies, texture modifications, and personal preferences. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day.
Memory Care
Our memory care program is built around the belief that every person living with memory loss still has a story worth honoring. We use structured routines, sensory cues, circular pathways that reduce anxiety, and purposeful programming designed for those experiencing Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Our staff receive specialized dementia training beyond state requirements.
Memory care is appropriate when someone needs a safe, structured environment with 24-hour supervision. This often becomes necessary in moderate to advanced stages. Our care coordinator will conduct an assessment and provide an honest recommendation based on your loved one's current needs.
Family visits are always welcome with no set visiting hours. Staff will brief family members on the best times and approaches for visits. We also provide regular care conference updates, phone check-ins, and our team is always available to answer questions.
Assisted Living
Assisted living provides 24-hour support from licensed care professionals: assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility; medication management; coordination of medical appointments; and daily wellness monitoring. Residents maintain as much independence as possible while receiving the support they need.
Yes. Residents can continue seeing their personal physicians and specialists. We work with home health agencies, hospice providers, physical and occupational therapists, and other ancillary care providers who can come directly to Grandhaven. We coordinate with outside providers to ensure continuity of care.
We conduct regular care assessments and adjust services as needs change. If needs exceed what assisted living can safely provide, we'll have an honest conversation about next steps. Our goal is always what's best for the resident.
For Families
Safety is our highest priority. Licensed care professionals are on site 24/7. Emergency call systems are in every suite and common area. We communicate proactively — any health change, incident, or concern is reported immediately. You're always welcome to call or visit unannounced.
We hold regular care conferences (typically every 90 days, or sooner if needs change) and staff are always available by phone. For significant health changes you'll be contacted immediately. Visiting hours are flexible and we encourage as much family involvement as the resident welcomes.
Adjustment takes time — most residents need 4–6 weeks to feel truly at home. Our staff is experienced in supporting transitions and actively work to ease the adjustment period. Residents are never trapped — this is their home and their choice.
Come see the community, meet our team, and enjoy lunch with us. No commitment required.
